Ray Boughton
Ray has an Honours Degree in Biology and Psychology and a Masters Degree in Pathology and Toxicology, both obtained from the University of Leicester. Upon completion of his honours degree Ray joined Product Safety Assessment (PSA) as a trainee Toxicologist. He rapidly progressed within PSA, finally taking over as Manager of the department five years after joining. It was during this time that Ray completed his Masters Degree, with research focusing on the Carcinogenic potential of Essential Oils.
In 2007 Ray moved to Atrion International, a leading supplier of Chemical Management Software, were he was involved in maintaining and developing their Regulatory and Toxicological Data. He was responsible for regularly reviewing regulatory registers, newsletters, standards and interpretations as well as liaising with Regulatory Agencies on a Global Basis regarding Chemical Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
Ray has also published several articles in the Cosmetic Science Technology periodical, as well as contributing a chapter to the first volume of Global Regulatory Issues for the Cosmetic Industry. He has presented and lectured on Risk Assessment and Chemical Regulations to manufacturers and suppliers, both within EU and the Far East.
Combining a high level of toxicological expertise and experience of the safety assessment of consumer chemicals, along with detailed knowledge of compliance software and regulations, ray is well placed to assist our customers as we move into the eras of REACH and GHS.
