Profile: Dr. Vivian Chan

Vivian has acquired over 15 years’ experience of toxicological risk assessment in pharmaceuticals and occupational health. She has held various scientific and regulatory roles in both Singapore and Australia. From 1999 to 2006, her working experience span from Regulatory Scientist (nonclinical) to Deputy Head of Innovative Therapeutic Group at the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore. In 2006-07, Vivian held the position of Senior Regulatory Scientist for the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme of Australia before serving as Regulatory Affairs Consultant at Kendle International Australia in 2008. She extended her experience as a Work Health and Safety Specialist in chemical Safety before returning to her hometown in Hong Kong.

Vivian has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and a PhD in Biochemical Toxicology from the King’s and Imperial College, University of London in UK. Her PhD’s focused on mechanisms of genotoxicity of allylbenzene food flavours. Her advanced postdoctoral training includes an engagement and knowledge exchange programme with the non-clinical division in Swedish Meical Products Agency and attending the Risk Assessment Summer School organised by the International Union of Toxicology.

Vivian was registered as a UK/European Toxicologist in 2004 and upholding this credential since. She served as a member of the Australian Advisory Committee on Chemicals Scheduling, Therapeutic Goods Administration for the period 2020-2022.
