Back to news

Have you ever wondered what safeguards the everyday products we use? From the chemicals in your cleaning supplies to the ingredients in your toothpaste and cosmetics. Well the students of the University of Birmingham are about to find out.

Sam Loveridge, Manager – EMEA Toxicology, is due to visit the University of Birmingham to deliver a regulatory toxicology presentation to students. The presentation (30-45 mins) will cover:

  • Different types of legislation relating to consumer products
  • Chemical-to-product risk assessment
  • Risk management strategies
  • Recent regulatory changes, such as MoCRA in the USA and CSAR in China
  • Related areas such as human trials and ethics, claims and advertising, enforcement etc.

Following the presentation, the students are invited to take part in a 45-60 mins activity session where they will practice determining if some example products are safe and compliant.

And to round off the day, there will be a 15-30 mins Q&A session where students can ask Sam questions relating to toxicology careers.
